Need a green screen on-site? No problem!
”Hey Ian, can you bring a green screen and set it up in our conference room?”
Here is a timelapse of me setting up a green backdrop for this very instance. For this project, we were limited to the available spaces around the office, and we couldn’t have the subjects travel to an off-site pre-lit stage. The solution was to bring the party to them!
For a waist up talking head video where they talk directly to camera, this setup is perfect. The trick is to get the lighting consistent so the green color is evenly lit and the details of the subject look crisp. Furthermore, the subject needs to be placed a good distance away from the screen so the color doesn’t bounce back on them and cause shoulders or heads to bleed into the background. A teleprompter can also be set up to help your subject work on the messaging quickly so they can make changes on the fly.
Not only is this setup convenient, it gives you the opportunity to collect much more content for various purposes. Imagine having subjects stream in to use the “studio” for the day to record: internal team messages, townhalls, training videos, recruitment efforts, company culture videos, interviews and a whole lot more!
